taking pictures with my new mp is like shooting with a leica m the first time.  there is this feeling again, to discover the world and freeze the worlds most important events on a negative. and there is the new challenge to think about what i have to do with this beautiful tool instead of the half-automatic m7. it feels more organic, like an extension of my senses. now i hope the “photo-flow” came back to my life.

i remember i took a picture of this robot once some years ago, but ruined the film because i have developed it with water instead of xtol. i guess i just did everything wrong that is possible in analog photography, but learned also to be careful. now i had the chance to take a picture again. some moments come back ;)

finally a new post after a while. i don’t no why, neither i find the time  to taking pictures for myself nor to develope them. i always work in the office or shoot on assignments for other people, which has pretty grown in the last year. that is why i did something very insane and bought me a leica monochrom to cut out the time between exposing and presentation. i thought that would be a new inducement, but also that didn’t helped really and it’s just not the same like shooting with film. but my M7 have some new erratic electronic issues which make me not really happy to use it and block me somehow. maybe i’ve been stucked in daily routine and ridiculous problems like the wrong camera bag or the wrong starp are driving me crazy. looking now for a M6 TTL in good condition or a new MP and i hope it will refresh my passion.

curious if you can separate the digital and analog shots in this post. i’m not a tech freak and i also do not write any reviews, but what i can say about the monochrom: it’s a real 100% leica m which produces  gorgeous and pure b&w files. they just look like tri x. i use it with my 35mm summilux (without 6bit or adjustment) and the results are amazing. there is absolutely no compromise in image and build quality and i’m sure, there is nothing out there that can keep up with the blackandwhite soul of this camera. but of course, the organic touch of film is still missing.

I didn’t know there is a charging point for electric cars in my town. Tesla.

summilux would be the better choice here than the summicron. but i have absolutely nothing against some movement-blur, i like that anayway. it makes a picture more dynamic.

some thought about the punks that night. we were in bienne, a french embossed city in switzerland. cultures and ethnos are totally mixed up here and it’s not the safest place i guess (we walked from the trainstation straight into a brawl). but i never had a bad feeling, this people were just peaceful and i was able to take some shots without any concern. in a way, i think to be a punk today is to upright a cliché which looks very exhausting to me. it’s loud and wild and just to be categorical different and there are also the ultra-liberal ones (is that right?). but i think here i have met some people who are just living not so straight in the form of society.

please correct me if i’m totally wrong.

actually, this is the last frame i shot with the M7. a flying truck.

in the meanwhile, i have send back my M7 to leica. curious what they will say about the iso-issue. but i’m not willing to invest more money in replacements for it. we had not a good start together. as i was unboxing it, the time-dial was full of white blurs, i didn’t saw the seconds-engravements. then, parts of the led panel in the viewfinder starts to disappear. sometimes, i saw all the strokes of the led numbers and then one or two of them just vanished. i was no longer to say if the a number is a 8 or 6 or 4.

after 4! repairs, two of it in germany, the problem seemd to be solved. and now that iso-issue. asa blinks in the viewfinder when i turn on the power and the camera is blocked for 30sec!. i think i’m done with it. i want a tool that just works right at the moment when i need it, and the M7 literally failed that simple claim. of course, i could work with the monochrom. but it don’t give me that feeling than shooting with film do. i also had invested so much time in learning all the techniques of developing and enlarging and buying the expensive but great nikon scanner.

i’m very unhappy to spent again so much money, but something new is ordered now by Mr. Lang. i hope the new cam will refresh my passion and my trust in a company with such a history, that became so lazy now imo.

I was asked by the german photomagazine photoklassik, if I like to test some rolls of Adox CHS 100 II. I was busy of work and hadn’t really the time to test it as I liked to, they sent me 20 rolls of it. I could shoot just 3 of them.

After a longer break, I’d received my camera the 4th time from the repaircenter in Germany, the digital readout seems to be fixed now for sure. They replaced some electronic compartments more than the other times *arghhh*. Then I had to change the frontlens from the 35mm, because I had scratched it. Very stupid.

After we returned from Berlin, I’d just thought “that couldn’t be over now”. I still had that street photographeeling in me. So I asked Sandrine if she like to take a short trip to Venice. So we went to Venice. And Venice was awesome.

We decided to take the train (no nerves for annoying check-ins at the airports). So we had a stop in Milano.

This was a tricky one, he was not amused to see my camera, so I made a turn and this was, unfortunately, the best situation. But wait!

We wanted to make just a “quick n’ dirty n’ cheap” trip to the isle, means two and a half days. To save money, I’d booked a hotel in Mestre, one station before Venezia Santa Lucia. Believe me, do yourself a favour, spend some extra money and book a hotel on the isle itself. In Mestre you will see that italy has ran out of money. It’s really sad. Or if you want to help a community, book as we did. But don’t expect too much.

I’ve bought several books like “Inferno” from James Nachtwey, Salgados amazing “Genesis” or my personal inspiring “Portret” from belgian Vanfleteren. Got an almost new Contax T3 from Mr. Lang (many thanks!). That’s all for now.

This is just a short update.

2013 hasn’t start good in personal things. I had to send my M7 for service again for the third time now, same problem is not fixed yet. Then a BIG SHIT happened to the latest roll of film. The developer was out of date I guess, the negs look like ghosts and something get wrong with the rapidfixer too. I tried to scan them anyway and post it, but don’t give a look at the quality. It’s a streak of bad luck. I hope it will change soon.

Crazy, thought that shot would be brutal overexposed because it was to fast to adjust the aperture. I’ve took it at 1.4 (ASA400) and the 1/1000 sec. was blinking somewhere in the Nirvana I guess. Lucky me for one time.

Shooting street in wintertime is like hunting in the woods without animals. Indeed, streetphotography is more like a study of everyday situations. So I took almost pictures in the train or in house.

After a long time, Simon, Marc and me met each other for an evening with chickenwings and beer.

In a way I am against horrible nuclear power, but W.T.F is that? (And for correction, the word is called “nucular” :-)

I was on the way to zurich for an assignment on sharing knowldedge, where I met suprisingly Cornelia. She’s the girlfriend of Bastien, Sandrines brother. She came for the congress to help out.

Time goes by, some pleasant and some very sad things happened in the last months. All of us have to look foreward. Ironically, this blog shows just moments of the past, that’s the nature of a picture. In the last time, I’ve thought much about what’s the reason to capture a moment or why not. What is harrisonburg-webdesign.com my personal intention to take a picture of a situation? Is it because it touch my sense or just why it is maybe looking interesting to the audience? Do I photograph for myself or for the people who say they like my pictures? What is making me driven? Hard to answer that, but I’m very concentrated now to analyse every situation I want to capture and asking myself why I do this, intuitive I think. I won’t say more now, let’s start with the latest entry.

I was running out of film, so i decided to buy a package of TriX. While I was standing there and waited for appliance, I’ve realized this scene and just thought “someone have to capture it”.
